The Royal Palace was built between 1697-1754 on the ruins of the old castle, Tre Kronor, dating back to the 13th century which was subsequently destroyed by a devastating fire in 1697. See the remnants of the Tre Kronor castle, parts of the old defence walls and the many artefacts rescued from the flames.
