ART GALLERIES

Stockholm is known for its many galleries. You will find a great deal of them on "Puckeln" on Hornsgatan, in the narrow streets of Gamla stan (Old Town) and in the area of Östermalm.

BANKS
Banks are open Mo.-Fri 09.30-15.00, some banks in central Stockholm are open until 18.00. On Thursdays the banks are usually open in the evening as well.

CAR RENTAL

CHANGING OF THE GUARDS

A century long tradition, known to be a spectacular show, is taking place almost every day during summer, ending at the Royal Palace at 12.15 and Weekends at 13.15. The parade starts from the Army Museum and walks toward the Royal Palace via Riddargatan, Artillerigatan, Strandvägen, Hamngatan, Regeringsgatan, Gustav Adolfs torg, Norrbro, Skeppsbron and Slottsbacken. During the rest of the year, changing of the guards take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

EMERGENCY

Dial 112 for ambulance, fire department, police and on-call doctors. If you need medical advise during your stay, call the Public health service on +46 (0)8 32 01 00 or visit Cityakuten on Apelbergsgatan 48, ph. +46 (0)8 412 29 60.

INTERNET

To send and receive e-mails or to send virtual postcards is possible to do at most hotels or at internet cafés.

LIQUOR STORES

In Stockholm liquor is sold in special stores. There are more than 20 stores in the citycenter. Most of them have self-service system: Klarabergsgatan 62, Regeringsgatan 44, Långholmsgatan 21, Norra Stationsgatan 58-60, Fältöversten Karlaplan 13 and Garnisonen Karlavägen 100 A. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 10.00-19.00, some close at 20.00, and Saturdays10.00-14.00, some close at 15.00.

MOVIE THEATRES

There are plenty of movie theatres in Stockholm. On Hötorget you will find Filmstaden Sergel with 14 different auditoriums, ph. +46 (0)8 562 60 00.

PARKING
Parking correct and legal in Stockholm can be quite difficult. At some place there are, once a week, no parking allowed during 00.00-06.00 due to cleaning of the streets. For information about parking, call +46(0)8 508 260 00. Central, large parking garages can be found on following places: Gallerian, Hötorget, Odenplan, NK, Åhléns and by Norra Latin.


PHARMACY

There are about 130 pharmacies in Stockholm. Close to the Centralstation on Klarabergsgatan 64 you will find Pharmacy C.W. Scheele which is open 24 h 7 days a week. Ph.+46(0)771 450 450.

POLICE

The Police Headquarters for Stockholm is located on Kungsholmsgatan 43 (Kungsholmen), Dial 112 for emergencies and 114 14 for non-emergencies.

POST OFFICES
There are no regular post offices in Sweden, mail service etc can be found at many grocery stores. Stamps can be bought in most news stands and kiosks.

SHOPPING
Shops are usually open 10.00 - 18,00 Mo.-Fri, 10.00 - 17.00 on Saturdays. Department stores and many of the larger stores in city are open on Sundays 12.00 - 16.00. Grocery shops are open everyday, most of them until 20.00, some of them even longer.
